Event Description: Hutchinson artist Donna Brigmans’ exhibit “Contemporary Textured Art” will be featured in the Main Gallery of the Hutchinson Art Center, 405 N. Washington, from December 14th, 2010 through January 15th, 2011. A reception for the artist will be held on Friday January 14th, 5:00-7:00pm at the Art Center, the public is invited.

Donna began painting in 1971 after viewing an exhibit of the American Water Color Society that was on display at the Wichita Center for the Arts. Inspired to become an artist she studied with noted artists Charles Sanderson, Wichita Kansas, Doug Walton, Ruston, Louisiana, Betty Lynch, and Midland, Texas among others in order to perfect her craft

Brigmans’ development as an artist has included an evolution of media and subject. Moving from transparent watercolors to incorporating acrylic paint and molding paste she has painted the Kansas Landscape, Still Lifes, and now focuses on Floral Abstracts with a three dimensional aspect.

An active participant in the Art Community, Donna has been a member of the Kansas Watercolor Society since 1972 and has served as President of the organization; she has also served as President of Kansas Painters West. Donna is also owner of Brigman Studio a Fine Art Gallery and Frame Shop in Downtown Hutchinson.

Ms. Brigman is the recipient of numerous regional as well as national awards and her work may be found in private and institutional collections throughout the country.

When visiting the Art Center don’t forget to take in the work of Hutchinson resident Peg Stephens on display in the Little Gallery. As always an exhibit featuring works from the strong Hutchinson Art Association may be viewed and you don’t want to miss the Art Center Sales Gallery. The Gallery features the works of Art Center member artists, a perfect place to find that one (or more) of a kind unique and affordable gift this Holiday Season.
