Event Description: The paintings of Hutchinson native Patrick Clark are on exhibit in the Main Gallery of the Hutchinson Art Center, 405 N. Washington St, running November 6th through December 10th. The public is invited to the Artist’s Reception for the exhibit to be held Friday November 19th at the Art Center from 5:00-7:00pm.

Patrick was born and raised in Hutchinson where he nurtured an interest in art throughout his high school years developing a strong affinity for watercolor. Patrick pursued his interest in art while in college graduating with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a Minor in Fine Arts from the University of Kansas in 1965. While employed at the Boeing Aircraft Company in Seattle Clark continued his education by working towards his MS Degree at the University of Seattle. By 1985 the attraction of working as a painter full time resulted in Patrick returning to painting as his primary endeavor.

As an artist Clark paints subjects that are significant to him working exclusively in transparent watercolor. He employs traditional approaches with the goal of creating unusual perspectives to subjects that as mentioned are of personal interest. Patrick’s work has been characterized as “contemporary realism” with a whimsical flair.

Patrick Clark’s works are displayed in galleries and both private and public collections throughout the United States. Clark’s works have been exhibited in juried national art exhibitions and festivals winning numerous awards. He is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and the National Watercolor Society.
