Hutchinson native Lucinda Piligian, actress and dancer, will be the featured speaker at the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce 2012 Annual Meeting. Admission to the event is currently open exclusively to Chamber members. Tickets will be made available to the general public in November as space permits.
The Chamber Annual Meeting takes place on Monday, February 13, 2012, and is held at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a networking hour and the opportunity to visit display tables set up by sponsors of the ev ent. Attendees will enjoy a dinner buffet at 6:30 p.m., followed by a short program and Mrs. Piligian's presentation at 7:15 p.m. Time will be allowed for additional networking at the conclusion of the program.
Lucinda Piligian received dance training from an early age at her monther's Hutchinson studio, Judy's School of Dance. She went on to major in dance at Kansas State University. Piligian began her film career as a dancer in the movie Grease 2. She later won the leading role and wide recognition in the feature film Breakin' and its sequel. Most recently, she appeared as a judge on the TLC show Master of Dance.
Piligian left acting to have children with her husband, television producer Craig Piligian. Mr. Piligian is credited with producing a long line of programs including Survivor and Dirty Jobs.
The Piligians maintain a residence in Hutchinson and recently made a substantial contribution toward the creation of a "universally accessible playground" in the future 43rd Street Park. The playground offered Mrs. Piligian a chance to invest in her hometown and further her work with the charity "Shane's Inspiration", a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with disabilities. In honor of Mrs. Piligian's presentation at the Annual Meeting, the Chamber will make a $10,000 donation to the playground.
Tickets for the event are $30.00 for Chamber members and $35.00 for non-members. Tables of 10 may be purchased for $270.00 for Chamber members or $320.00 for non-members. If ordered after February 6, there will be an additional $10 per meal ticket. No tables of 10 can be purchased after January 31.
